Your board.
Elected by you.
Vida is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership. Not appointed by corporate headquarters. Not chosen by investors. Elected by members. This is what member-ownership actually looks like.
Vida is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership, with independent oversight from a Supervisory Committee and federal regulation by the NCUA.
No shareholders.
No board of investors.
Just members.
At a bank, shareholders elect the board. The board's job is to maximize returns for those shareholders. That is the model.
At Vida, members elect the board. Every account holder has a vote. The board's job is to serve those members. Set policies, oversee management, meet regularly, and make sure the credit union runs well. Volunteer service to the community that built this institution.
The Board of Directors is responsible for setting policies, general management of the credit union's affairs, and meeting regularly to set savings and loan rates, lending policies, and other business matters.
The Supervisory Committee is appointed by the board and provides an independent check: ensuring adequate internal controls, regulatory compliance, and sound financial condition.
The people running the day-to-day.
Vida's management team is responsible for operations, lending, compliance, finance, and technology under the direction of the Board of Directors.
