Life happens.
Skip the payment.
Request a one-month deferral on an eligible Vida loan. Your payment moves to the end of the loan term. Submit online, by phone, or in branch. Subject to eligibility and approval.
Skip-a-Payment is subject to eligibility, loan standing, and approval. Interest continues to accrue during the deferred month. Availability and terms subject to change. Verify current terms with Vida FCU before requesting.
Four steps.
One month off.
Skipping a payment is a temporary deferral, not a forgiveness. Here is exactly what happens from request to resolution.
Check Eligibility
Your loan must be current and in good standing. If you're behind on the loan, call us first — a courtesy arrangement may still be possible.
Submit Your Request
Complete the online form, call us at (909) 983-1959, or visit the branch. Submit before your payment due date for the month you want to skip.
Approval Confirmed
Vida reviews your request. If approved, your payment is officially deferred. You will receive confirmation.
Payment Moves to End
The deferred payment is added to the end of your loan term. Interest continues to accrue during the skipped month, which increases your total loan cost slightly.
Ready when you are.
Most Vida installment loans qualify for Skip-a-Payment. Start your request and we’ll confirm eligibility for your specific loan.
Start a Skip-a-Payment RequestNot eligible: Home Loans / Mortgages, HELOC / Home Equity, Visa Credit Card, and Share-Secured Loans. Eligibility is subject to Vida’s current program terms — call (909) 983-1959 with questions.
You skip the payment.
Not the interest.
A Skip-a-Payment deferral moves your payment to the end of the loan. It does not pause interest. During the month you skip, interest continues to accrue on your outstanding balance. That means your total loan cost increases slightly.
This is standard for any payment deferral. The benefit is cash flow flexibility now in exchange for a small increase in total finance charge over the life of the loan.
The stuff people ask first.
Will skipping a payment hurt my credit?
No. An approved Skip-a-Payment deferral is not reported as a missed or late payment. Your credit score is unaffected. The key word is approved. Submit the request before your due date and wait for confirmation before assuming it went through.
How many times a year can I skip?
Contact Vida directly for the current program limits. Your specific limit depends on the loan type and Vida's current program terms.
Is there a fee to skip a payment?
Yes. The fee is $35 per loan skipped (the Loan Extension Fee on Vida's Schedule of Fees), deducted from your share account when the request is approved.
How far in advance do I need to request?
Submit your request before the due date for the month you want to skip. It will take the same business day to process. If you wait until the day your payment is due, it may be too late to approve the deferral.
Does my loan have to be current?
Yes. Your loan must be current and in good standing at the time of the request. If you're behind, call us first — depending on the situation, a courtesy arrangement may still be possible.
